Step by step: claiming your rebate

Confirm you're on the Synergy or Horizon Power network
The WA Residential Battery Rebate is tied to your electricity network. Grid-connected Synergy customers claim $1,300; Horizon Power customers in regional Western Australia claim a higher regional amount. Your network name is printed on your latest electricity bill.

Check you own and occupy the property
The rebate is for owner-occupiers of a residential property, plus eligible small businesses and not-for-profits. Rentals need the owner to apply. One rebate applies per property, not per person.

Choose a VPP-capable battery
The battery must be able to join a Virtual Power Plant so it can support the grid at peak times. Every battery Total Solar installs — Tesla Powerwall 3, Sigenergy, Sungrow and similar — is VPP-capable and on the approved product list.

Buy through a NETCC Approved Seller
Rebate applications are only accepted from NETCC Approved Sellers using SAA Accredited installers. Total Solar is both, so nothing in your paperwork gets rejected on a technicality.

Stack the federal STC discount
On top of the WA rebate, Small-scale Technology Certificates cut the price of a solar and battery system by up to $7,300. STCs are applied as a point-of-sale discount, so you never wait for a refund.

Add the interest-free loan if you want a $0 upfront start
Eligible WA households can borrow up to $10,000 interest-free towards the battery, repaid over the loan term. This is assessed alongside the rebate, not instead of it.

Get the paperwork lodged before install
The rebate is claimed against a specific quote and serial-numbered equipment, so the application goes in before your install date. We prepare and lodge it for you and confirm approval in writing.

How much is the WA battery rebate worth?
Grid-connected Synergy customers claim $1,300 towards a VPP-capable battery. Combined with the federal STC discount of up to $7,300, most households see several thousand dollars come off the installed price.
Can I claim the WA rebate and the federal STC discount together?
Yes. They are separate schemes and they stack. The STC discount applies at the point of sale on the solar system, and the WA Residential Battery Rebate applies to the battery.
Do I need solar panels already installed?
No. You can add a battery to an existing solar system or install solar and battery together. Installing both at once usually claims more, because the STC discount applies to the new panels.
Does my battery have to join a VPP?
The battery must be VPP-capable to qualify. Joining a VPP program is a separate choice you make later, and it can earn extra credits on your bill.
How long does approval take?
Applications are usually assessed within a couple of weeks of lodgement. We lodge before your install date and confirm approval in writing before any equipment goes on your roof.
