The three most-installed home batteries in WA compared on price, warranty, backup power and rebate eligibility.
The contenders
- Tesla Powerwall 3 — 13.5 kWh, integrated inverter, 11.5 kW backup
- Sungrow SBR — modular 9.6–25.6 kWh, hybrid with SH-RS inverter
- BYD HVM — modular 11.0–22.1 kWh, works with Fronius/GoodWe/Sungrow inverters

Which one wins?
- Best for whole-home backup: Powerwall 3 — highest continuous output handles ducted air-con starts.
- Best value per kWh: BYD HVM — cheapest per usable kWh, modular scaling.
- Best for expandability: Sungrow SBR — snap in extra modules later as your EV load grows.
Our take
For most Perth families a Powerwall 3 is the safest long-term buy. For larger homes or off-grid ambitions we usually recommend a Sungrow stack because you can add capacity without replacing the inverter.
